Oppo R3 rilis di tahun 2014. Pada saat rilis Oppo R3 dinobatkan sebagai smartphone 4G tertipis saat itu, dengan ketebalah hanya 6.3 mm. Dengan ukuran yang tipis ini Oppo R3 terlihat lebih elegan dan nyaman dinggenggam. Dengan harga empat jutaan, Oppo R3 ditawarkan dengan spesifikasi yang unggul.

Selain tipis, layar yang dimiliki Oppo R3 terbilang lebar yaitu 5.0 inches akan memberikan pengalaman menonton dan bermain game yang maksimal. Sedangkan untuk resolusinya, Oppo R3 memiliki resolusi HD standar yaitu 720 x 1280 pixel, sehingga gambar yang dihasilkan pada layar akan tajam dan jernih. Dengan bahan body metal tidak membuat smartphone ini berat namun membuat Oppo R3 terlihat lebih kokoh.

Smartphone empat jutaan ini juga dilengkapi dengan kamera yang baik untuk smartphone pada tahunnya. Dengan 8 MP primary camera akan dapat menangkap gambar dan video dengan baik dengan hasil yang jernih dan tajam. Lengkap dengan LED Flash juga. Untuk kamera depan, Oppo R3 memiliki 5 MP kamera sehingga hasil selfie akan memuaskan.

Oppo R3 memiliki prosesor Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400. RAM yang dimiliki Oppo R3 adalah 1 GB RAM, cukup untuk menjalankan aplikasi sederhana secara bersamaan. Dengan memori internal sebesar 8 GB dan tentunya dapat ditambah dengan memori eksternal hingga 128 GB. Oppo R3 memiliki kapasitas baterai cukup besar yaitu 2,410 mAh. Smartphone ini sudah support 4G LTE.

Untuk operating system, Oppo R3 menggunakan Android Jelly Bean 4.3. Yang berbeda dari smartphone lain, Oppo memodifikasi OS ini sehingga tampilan Oppo R3 terlihat lebih simple namun elegan. OS hasil modifikasi ini dinamakan ColorOS 1.4
